Who We Are
At Young at Art Company, our philosophy centers on fostering a love for the arts in a welcoming and inclusive environment that caters to budding artists of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. We provide a bright, happy place where students feel free to try new things and make a mess, discovering the joy of art in the process. Students are encouraged to make their own artistic choices and receive individual guidance to support their creative journeys. Our classes are taught by local artists and teachers who are passionate about what they do!
What We Do
Our programs explore a variety of mediums, including but not limited to, drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and collage. We will also offer classes/camps that feature other art forms and interest areas such as Music, Drama, Mindfulness… We deeply value the arts as a creative process and strive to inspire each student to express themselves and develop their unique artistic voice.
Kirstin Bird, the owner and creative director of Young at Art Co., is a proud Detroit Lakes graduate who recently returned to the area after a 29-year teaching career in the Twin Cities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Kirstin is licensed in Minnesota to teach both K-6 Elementary Education and K-12 Art Education. With her extensive background in education and passion for the arts, she is excited to embark on her new adventure, fostering creativity and artistic expression in her hometown community.
